What is a dental scan?

A dental scan is like a high-tech photo shoot for your teeth and jaw. It gives us a detailed look at what’s happening inside your mouth and gives us a much better view of what is happening way beyond taking a quick look ourselves.

At Smile Stories, we use both regular 2D X-rays and 3D dental scans – that way we can find any potential issues early and plan your treatment to get the best results possible.

What is a 3D dental scan?

A 3D dental scan uses something called cone beam CT technology to create a full 360° view of your teeth, jawbone, and all the important things in between.

3D scans are extremely helpful when it comes to: 

• Planning dental implants
• Identifying issues with wisdom teeth 
• Checking jaw pain
• Spotting hidden infections
• Working out exactly what is happening in your mouth before we start any treatment
