Tear trough treatments are for anyone who wants to make their eyes look youthful, refreshed, and wide awake. As we age, the fat pads underneath our eyes can shift and shrink, causing the depression that runs from the nose to the under-eye area to deepen. This trough creates a shadow making us look tired and aged.
Tear trough filler is injected into the area beneath the eyes to plump up the skin, and restore volume to the under-eye area reducing the appearance of dark circles and hollows. This can make the area look brighter and rejuvenated giving you a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
The process of having your eyes rejuvenated begins with an friendly chat to find out more with our highly qualified team of experts. We’ll find out your goals and determine if you’re a good candidate for this procedure so that we can ensure that you obtain highly effective results (if you’re not we may be able to suggest a treatment that is better suited to your needs).
Next, you’ll be invited to our stunning facial aesthetics clinic located on Winton High Street in Bournemouth. During your appointment, we will put you at ease and answer any questions you have before starting the treatment.
Reem, our licensed and certified facial aesthetics pharmacist, will then clean the treatment area and apply a numbing anaesthetic cream to the area. She will then place the dermal filler at specific points along the tear trough area. The filler will then be gently massaged into place to create the desired result.
Once we’re filled out your tear trough, we’ll talk to you about any aftercare instructions and your treatment will be complete. The entire process usually takes between 15-30 minutes.

Our facial aesthetics experts will listen to your goals and provide you with a no-obligation plan to reach them.
Refine, define and turn back time, naturally.
Whether you live in Bournemouth, Poole, or anywhere else in Dorset, Smile Stories is here to help you regain your confidence.
After your tear trough treatment, you will see an immediate improvement of the dark circles although it can take two weeks for the full effects to become fully noticeable. This is because the filler material used in the treatment needs time to settle into place.
It is normal to experience some swelling or bruising around the injection sites, which will subside within a week.
We do advise that you don’t wear make-up for the rest of the day to prevent infection.
We also recommend that you avoid alcohol, painkillers, blood-thinning medication and strenuous exercise for two days.
To ensure optimal results from your tear trough treatment, we recommend avoiding sleeping on your face for 48 hours after the procedure. This will give the fillers sufficient time to settle into place and take shape, helping you achieve the desired outcome.
Tear trough treatments are not permanent, and the longevity of tear trough treatments can vary from person to person, but on average, results can last anywhere from 9 to 18 months.
Factors such as the type of filler used and your body’s natural metabolism can affect how long the results will last. Once your tear trough area starts to deepen, we’ll be happy to restore them.

While the tear trough treatment can cause some discomfort, it shouldn’t be painful and to minimise discomfort we administer anaesthetic cream before injecting the treatment area. Some clients report the feeling of pressure under the eye that lasts just a couple of minutes and some find being injected near the eye area unsettling – there is no need to be concerned though our dermal filler pharmacist is highly trained to perform this advanced treatment safely and effectively.
Yes, tear trough treatments are safe. Dermal fillers used to treat the tear trough area are made from Hyaluronic acid which is found naturally in the body meaning the product can break down and be absorbed over time. We only use products that are licensed in the UK for the treatment of the tear trough area and only advanced practitioners can carry out this advanced procedure.
Although the positive effects of tear trough filler can be seen immediately, it can take up to 2 weeks for the filler to settle completely.
The amount of tear trough filler needed will depend on the severity of the hollowing. Our tear trough practitioner, Reem will be able to advise you on how much filler is required to achieve your desired look, whether that be 0.5ml or 1ml per eye.
