What does medical grade skincare do?

Medical grade skincare products typically contain higher concentrations of active ingredients than over-the-counter products. These ingredients are designed to penetrate deeper into the skin, below the epidermis and regulate the skin at a much deeper cellular level.

The combination of medical-grade active ingredients and superior skin penetration results in highly effective results.

Prescription-only skincare products are formulated with scientifically proven ingredients such as retinol, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and glycolic acid.

These ingredients work together to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin by increasing cell turnover, stimulating collagen production, reducing inflammation, and hydrating the skin improving the skin’s health and appearance.

Medical grade skincare FAQs

Which areas of Bournemouth do you offer medical grade skincare in?

Our facial aesthetics and dental clinic is based on Winton High Street, but we offer medical grade skincare treatments to the whole of Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Dorset. We’re always happy to offer an initial telephone or video call consultation so that we can better understand your needs before you come and visit us.

What distinguishes medical grade skincare from high street skincare?

High Street skincare products, even very expensive cosmeceuticals, classed as cosmetics, only contain very small amounts of active ingredients. These cosmetics are not permitted to alter the anatomy, physiology and biochemistry of the skin. They do not affect the cells below the top layer of the skin (the epidermis) where they are most needed.

In contrast, medical-grade skincare generally contains higher concentrations of active ingredients often in combination with other essential ingredients which allows them to be absorbed into the cells under the epidermis.

In addition, medical-grade skincare products can only be prescribed following a consultation with a skincare expert, like Reem, here at Smile Stories so you receive the correct regime and products to specifically treat your concern quickly with superior results.

Is there any downtime following medical grade skincare?
